Help Us Find Alumni of the Dive Program!

Next to seeing all of you at the reunion party Saturday August 27, 2005, Lloyd Austin would like nothing more than to have an up to date list of alumni contact information.

We have no current contact information for a large percentage of alumni. The list below contains the names of all the people that we've lost track of. Please pull out your little black books and help us locate them! If you know anything about a person listed below, please send us an email so we can get their information up to date.

Thanks for your help with this!

UC Divers Class of 1973

Lloyd's course was one of the hardest things I have done in my life
-- and survived!

I took Lloyd's course before the energy crisis when there were still
tyrannosaurs running down Telegraph Ave. Then, the Harmon pool was
heated and we swam dozens of laps in our wetsuits every class. I was
a slim 115 lbs and lost about 7 pounds of water weight each session.
I won't ever forget my skeletal appearance and the tremendous amounts
of food I inhaled (which included numerous Jerry's Grossburgers and
TopDogs) after every pool session.

Another fond memory was a husband and wife drill sergeant instructor
team (whose names I cannot recall because of my senior-ness) that
seemed to get great pleasure out of pushing your buttons and
endurance to the limit and sometimes beyond.

I didn't pursue the marine biology career I was planning when I took
Lloyd's course. Since then, I got my PhD in developmental biology
(UC Irvine) and an MBA (MIT) and have had various business
development jobs in the biotech industry in San Diego. Presently, I
am the Chief Business Officer of Koam Nano Bio USA, Inc., where I
just helped engineer the $50 million acquisition of a technology
rights package.

Surviving the course was great big confidence builder that helped me
get through many small and large crises in life. Thanks, Lloyd!
